Chapter VIII

Graduation Presents

We saw Paul and Barbara occasionally after that climactic scene, and we partied with them a few times. But it was clear to both Steven and me that their true interests and ours weren’t congruent, and as the months went by, we saw them less and less frequently. Time passed, and I was startled one day to find in the mail the announcement and invitation to Steven’s graduation. Had it really been almost three years that we’d been living in this house?

I attended the graduation, and I felt extremely proud of Steven when he walked to the rostrum and received his degree, in management of course. As we entered the house after driving back from the ceremony, I was surprised to see not one but two low benches in the living room, one at each end of the couch. I was even more surprised when Steven, instead of sending me off to change into my regular indoor attire, took my arm and seated me on the couch next to him.

“Now that I’ve graduated,” he said, “it’s time to discuss our future.”

I was happy to hear him say our future; I’d been anxious, ever since that announcement arrived, about what he might want to do after getting his bachelor’s degree. So I listened carefully as he continued, “Helen is still sending her contributions, and I’ve saved quite a bit out of what she’s already sent, but I don’t know how much longer that will continue. So I’ve made some plans and some arrangements, all of which are subject to change as circumstances warrant. But before we talk about those plans in detail, there is one aspect of them for which I require your consent.”

I was completely taken aback. “But Steven,” I said, “you know you don’t need my consent for anything. That’s an essential aspect of our relationship.”

“You’re right. I do know,” he replied, “but let’s say that, in this instance, I want your agreement.”

I was totally mystified. “All right, Steven, if that’s what you want, although I can’t imagine why.”

“In just a moment, you won’t have to imagine anything. But right now, I have a graduation present I want to share with you. Do you remember what you whispered to me the first night Barbara was here?”

My mind raced back as I tried to remember what I’d told him, and then the words rang in my head. “Are you talking about that silly remark I made about how I could enjoy getting accustomed to having my pussy licked?”

“Yes,” he replied. Then he reached behind him to the end table and lifted a small silver bell. He shook his hand, and the bell tinkled lightly. I looked up when I heard the sound of heel clicks coming from the direction of the kitchen; if there was one sound I knew well, it was the sound of stiletto heels on that kitchen floor.

But before I could say anything, an incredibly beautiful young blonde appeared in the archway leading to the kitchen.
